Some days you just don’t want to run.

My quick running tip for those days is to have a designated turn around spot about a half mile from your start. If you get to that point and you still aren’t feeling it, give yourself permission to turn around a go home guilt free.

I have had a turn around spot for years. First it was a Safeway, now its a movie theatre. While I very often don’t feel like heading out the door, I’ve actually turned around at that spot less than a half dozen times.

Why?

Inertia. The hardest part of a run is almost always getting started. Once you are in your running clothes and moving, the hardest part of the run over. At that point, you may as well see it through to the end.
